Top Tips for Laying Permaroof!
- Let the membrane rest: Before applying the membrane, let it rest for about 30 minutes to allow any creases to dissipate. This will help ensure a smooth and wrinkle-free application.
- Prepare the surface: Before opening and mixing the product, clean the surface to remove any loose dirt, stones, or other debris. If needed, wash the surface with soapy water or a suitable cleaner and allow it to dry completely.
- Apply the trim while the roof deck is still in place: This will make it easier to attach the trim. Ensure the top of the backplate is flush with the roof deck surface, then secure it with fixings.
- Apply the membrane: Once the trim is in place, apply the membrane to the roof deck.
- Apply the wall flashing: Bond the EPDM membrane up the wall, leaving it just short of the chase. Apply Permaroof Ultrabond to the reverse of the wall flashing, then insert the flashing into the chase.
- Seal the chase: Seal up the chase with Permaroof Ultrabond to ensure a watertight seal.
- Install the gutter edge drip plate: The gutter edge drip plate is a two-part system that creates a watertight seal between the EPDM membrane and the back plate. The base plate is mechanically fixed to the wall, and the top plate clicks into place over the membrane.
